Real-time Camera Analysis and Process Tracking (ReCAPT): Today the typical tools used to measure the performance of a camera do not provide adequate information to understand how well the components and camera were assembled. They simply indicate if pass-fail metrics were achieved through the use of multiple measurements. Consequently, a manufacturing engineer can only monitor the stability of a process through destructive off-line testing; simple pass fail testing does not reveal process drift. Through an NSF funded program, FiveFocal is developing a camera module testing method and software toolset that allows the production user to gather process and tolerance information from image based measurements. This powerful tool enables manufacturers and integrators of miniature camera modules to control production yield while addressing the increasing quality demanded by the rapidly growing mobile camera space.

The ReCAPT algorithm helps reduce product development time, enables faster recovery from process drift and improves next generation product yields by inputting real tolerances into the design for manufacture (DFM) process.

By leveraging the lens design model and common quality control image data, estimates of actual lens errors can be calculated.
Advanced System Modeling, Analysis and Visualization Tools: Through the development and test of advanced optical systems, FiveFocal has generated many design and analysis tools that augment existing software platforms. These include tools for simulation, visualization, modeling and analysis that work with current optical CAD programs.
